Tax Enquiry Protection Service

At Larking Gowen, we’ve been offering clients membership of our Tax Enquiry Protection Service for many years. This protects you against our fees if you’re selected for enquiry by HMRC.

Over the years, thousands of clients have joined this service, and many have benefited when they’ve been selected for enquiries, ultimately saving themselves a significant sum of money.

HMRC’s approach has been to devote more resources to investigating clients. Our insurers advised that around one third of all investigations result in a nil settlement, and over 70% of cases result in clients paying more in fees than HMRC collect in tax.

We live in very difficult economic times, with soaring national debt and a cost-of-living crisis off the back of the pandemic. We’re acutely aware that many businesses and individuals are struggling.

We appreciate that dealing with a tax enquiry can be stressful and costly, which is why we’re on hand to support you and deal with your enquiry on your behalf.

For a small cost, you'll get our full support in defending your case and dealing with your enquiry, and you’ll be covered for fees of up to £100,000.

As part of your subscription, we'll deal with:

All meetings and correspondence with HMRC in respect of full or aspect enquiries into personal or business tax returns

HMRC, PAYE, VAT or CIS compliance visits.

Any VAT/PAYE/NIC/IR35/employment status and CIS disputes

Judicial reviews, COP8 investigations or IR35 status checks and IR35 disputes.

Business inspection notices under Schedule 36 of the Finance Act 2008.

Informal enquiries from HMRC.

National Minimum Wage enquiries from HMRC.

Inheritance Tax enquiries from HMRC.

Gift Aid inspections.
