Insurance for farmers and growers
Farming insurance may not be top of your ’to do’ list but, for farmers and growers, it might be worth reviewing your cover – sooner rather than later.
As prices, especially of grain, have soared since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, it’s possible that some farmers may be at risk of being under-insured.
In the driest July for 100 years across eastern England, fires on farms have been making headlines. While winter crops have been harvested, stores of valuable grain need to be properly insured.
Likewise, the replacement cost of fuel has increased significantly over the past 12 months and the price of fertilisers has soared. This, coupled with the buoyant machinery market, could easily result in your cover not meeting the costs associated with any loss or damage.
It may be worth checking with your insurance agent or broker that your current and future policies are fit for purpose.
